About fifteen years ago Lynn saw the positive benefits of massage in horses at a barn where she boarded her horse. Pleasure and show horses both benefited from massage, including the horse she showed in dressage and competitive trail. Over the years Lynn's interests switched from showing horses to showing dogs. The involvement with dogs, especially the adoption of Sam, a lab mix, was the fork in the road that redirected the path back to massage.
While working in the financial services industry for over 30 years, Lynn wanted to give back to the community and Sam was the dog that was up to the challenge. He successfully passed the St John Ambulance Therapy dog test and Lynn became involved with New Tecumseth St John Ambulance Therapy Dogs. It was there that she met Sigle Magner-Skeries, owner of Treetops. Treetops is a animal rehabilitation and wellness facility that offers personal services and certification in holistic animal care for companion animals and horses with particular focus on massage and herbal remedies.
Years of stringent continuing education in the financial services field ensured that if Lynn was going to pursue canine massage she expected an intense, comprehensive program. Treetop's rigorous training and certification program in canine massage met Lynn's requirements and she graduated as a certified canine masseuse. She is a member and secretary for CAMBA.
In addition to practicing canine massage and certified in companion animal first aid, Lynn visits weekly with her two therapy dogs, Sam and Pagan. She volunteers as a Evaluator for St John Ambulance Therapy dogs. She has competed in confirmation classes with Pagan and Lola and now can be found in the Rally Obedience rings with Pagan and Lola.
A firm believer in learning all you can Lynn has attended seminars such as:
- Canine Immunology: Dr Jean Dodds
- Professional Animal Behavior Associates (PABA): Canine Harmony: Developing the Perfect Companion, Successful Behavioral Therapy & Training
- Herbal First Aid Workshop for Companion Animals
- Energetic Healing Therapies for Pets
- Dietary Landscape with Monica Segal
